Dedicated to the land, plants, animals, and people of the K-BAR ranch of Angelina County, Texas

I woke up to a white ranch this morning, and that made it easy to track cows.
The boys were excited to ride in a snow covered truck, but the snow did not help traction.
It snowed this morning on the K-Bar. This is a rare occurrence, (although it has snowed at least three times this century.) When it does snow it really changes the look of the ranch. It also makes it harder for the animals to find food.
The K-Bar ranch is a small family ranch located in the Moffet Community of Angelina County, Texas. It is owned by brothers Wilton and Allen Killam and primarily opperated by Steve Killam, (son of Wilton.) It is more than just dirt, plants, and animals, it is home.
George Killam came to East Texas with his wife Helen and two sons in 1939. He is known in the blog as Papa. He started and built the ranch. Wilton, (Dad,) was a tireless teacher and adminstrator in Angelina County. He and his wife Bonnie raised their three sons Bob, Bil, and Steve on the ranch. Allen, (Uncle Al) was an army doctor and medical educator. He made frequent trips back to re-charge.
The ranch is living, it never looks the same. This is an attempt to document the beauty and diversity of the ranch before it is gone.
