Dedicated to the land, plants, animals, and people of the K-BAR ranch of Angelina County, Texas

As long as the hogs rooted up areas in the wooded bottoms they were OK. Now they are destroying pasture. Now it looks as if I need to start controlling these pests. The traps will be set soon
The K-Bar ranch is a small family ranch located in the Moffet Community of Angelina County, Texas. It is owned by brothers Wilton and Allen Killam and primarily opperated by Steve Killam, (son of Wilton.) It is more than just dirt, plants, and animals, it is home.
George Killam came to East Texas with his wife Helen and two sons in 1939. He is known in the blog as Papa. He started and built the ranch. Wilton, (Dad,) was a tireless teacher and adminstrator in Angelina County. He and his wife Bonnie raised their three sons Bob, Bil, and Steve on the ranch. Allen, (Uncle Al) was an army doctor and medical educator. He made frequent trips back to re-charge.
The ranch is living, it never looks the same. This is an attempt to document the beauty and diversity of the ranch before it is gone.
